Truman Capote // In Cold Blood

New York, Random House, 1965
First Edition

In Cold Blood is one of Capote most popular books, for which he conducted much research; it is a fact-based account (or “non-fiction novel” as also called) of the 1959 murders of the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas.

Truman Capote's groundbreaking work was first serialized in The New Yorker.

Capote traveled to Kansas (including, with Harper Lee -they were cousins), met with the investigators and the men ultimately convicted of the crime.

The intriguing murder mystery and Capote’s captivating writing make the book a literary classic, based on which the 1967 film “In Cold Blood” was written.

Life Magazine made the cover of its May 12, 1967 copy with a picture taken on the set of the movie, showing Capote with the movie’s two main actors (Robert Blake, Scott Wilson). The 2005 film “Capote”, with Philip Seymour Hoffman in the title role, also traced the events that happened before and during the writing of the book. It received several awards.

The magazine is in very good/near fine condition, with minimal wear.
