Stefan Zweig // Balzac, le Roman de sa Vie
Albin Michel, 1950
Limited First Edition, translated from German by Fernand Delmas
One of 80 copies on “Renage” vellum paper, the only limited edition.
Published for the first time in 1946, four years after Zweig committed suicide in Brazil, before he was able to complete what he called a major work, and on which he spent many years.
The famous Fench philosopher André Comte-Sponville, in his “Dictionnaire amoureux de Montaigne », describes the book as « admirable ».
Untrimmed copy, in very good condition despite the upper part of the back being slightly darkened (see pictures).
