One of the most well known and appreciated works of Giono, in which he recounts the death and rebirth of the village of Aubignane (a fictional name).

Marcel Pagnol adapted the book to realize his famous film "Regain" ("Harvest" in the US) in 1937, with Fernandel and Orane Demazis in the main roles.

First edition, one of the 66 copies on pure-thread Vellum (noted as such, unnumbered), after 8 on Japan and 24 on Arches’s Vellum.

Superb green half-morocco binding with corners, signed Semet and Plumelle.

Spine with five nerves, gilt title and date (foot), cover and back preserved.
