French edition:

First edition, advance copy (“Service de Presse”), in its publisher's case, with a very interesting and eloquent autograph from the author:

"Affectionately this story will remind you of many things Georges. I'm leaving in a few days for the Mediterranean on an Italian sailboat that I rented for 6 months. Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, etc. I kiss you, Georges."

Indeed, from the end of May to the autumn of 1934, Georges and Tigy Simenon made a voyage in the Mediterranean aboard L'Araldo, a two-masted ship with a crew of six men. The ship will make stops in San Remo, Genoa, Naples, Messina, Syracuse, Malta, etc.

Simenon wrote a story from it: "Mare nostrum or the Mediterranean in a schooner (1934)" "Mare nostrum" ("Our sea") was a Latin term used by the Romans to designate the Mediterranean.

One of Simenon's psychological novels, "The Lodger", a detective novel, was brought to the screen four times. The last one (1982), under the title “L'Étoile du Nord”, was directed by Pierre Granier-Deferre, with Simone Signoret and Philippe Noiret in the lead roles - a superb film.

In very good condition despite slight signs of wear on the dust jacket, and slightly browned paper.
